Scott Henderson Internet Marketing - How to start an Internet Business

Over the past year or so I have spent countless hours socializing with fellow expats and locals here in South Korea.  It’s a scene not unlike anyplace else where friends gather.  The talk will cover every topic imaginable, the food will be good, the drinks cold.  I’m just another face in the crowd.

My closest friends know what I do, but most of the people I come in contact with here just assume that I’m part of the U.S. Military system.  Recently I moved into a new apartment with a beautiful view when a friend of a friend stopped by.  We have had some small talk in the past but nothing to really disclose my occupation.

She knew that I came and went as I pleased, I traveled to places like Japan and Thailand regularly and that I lived in a really nice place.  It was over some coffee that she asked the question, “So Scott what in the world do you do for a living?”

I do get asked this from time to time and my normal response is that I’m an Internet Marketer.  That raises some eyebrows and most of the time some more questions.  I then proceed to explain what an Internet Marketer does, the article writing, the keyword research, the site building, the blah…blah…blah.

I knew that my normal response “Well, I’m an Internet Marketer” would suffice and lead to further questioning, but I sensed that she did not want to know all the boring details.  Instead I could see that she was more interested in the lifestyle that it gives me.  I then realized that I’m a Lifestyle Marketer.  I asked myself the question; “Who dreams about being an expert article writer, a web site builder, or keyword researcher?“  Nobody, I certainly did not dream about any of that.  I dreamed about a lifestyle that learning Internet Marketing could afford me.

So with that flash of brilliance it made me think about my own marketing efforts, what am I marketing?  What should I promote? Over the next few weeks I will be analyzing this, talking it over with fellow IM’ers, and will probably create a new test blog.  The overall branding theme will be of course, Lifestyle Marketing.

So keep that thought, I have to run now over to GoDaddy.com to get my domain name……
